ABSTRACT:
The current study discusses two different methods for determining Rosuvastatin Calcium and Fenofibrate in bulk and tablet dosage forms at the same time. UV Spectroscopy method was developed and tested on UV 1800 Shimadzu, Japan, utilizing Methanol as a solvent. Fenofibrate and Rosuvastatin Calcium were identified at maxima 243 and 287nm, respectively. The separation was carried out using a Waters HPLC system and a Chemsil C18 column (250mm and 4.6mm, 5m). At 260nm, the identification was performed. At a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, the optimum mobile phase acetonitrile: water pH was adjusted with % OPA (65:35 v/v). Rosuvastatin and Fenofibrate achieved acceptable retention times of 2.036 and 5.475minutes, respectively. Rosuvastatin Calcium and Fenofibrate were found to be linear over concentration ranges of 1-5 and 5-25µg/mL, with excellent Regression Correlation (r2) values of 0.9919 and 0.994 respectively by UV Spectroscopy. The linear relationship between Rosuvastatin Calcium and Fenofibrate was found to be over the Concentration ranges of 10-50 and 80-160µg/mL, respectively, with an excellent Correlation Coefficient (r2) value of 0.995 and 0.9987 utilizing the RP-HPLC Method. The % RSD of precision was found to be less than 2.0% for both methods. The % recovery of ROS utilizing UV and RP-HPLC techniques were found to be in the 97-98.25 percent and 100-102 percent ranges, respectively. The UV and RP-HPLC methods obtained FEN % recovery of 95.36-98.63 and 98.99-100.05 %, respectively. The established and validated RP-HPLC technique takes lesser time and can be used regularly within the industry for regular quality control.
